Tesla started phasing out data capability from the front center console USB ports in late 2021. This change gradually rolled out to Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced from early 2022 onwards.
 
Here's what happened:
Initially: The center console USB ports in older Tesla models provided both power and data connectivity. This allowed for features like music playback from USB drives and data transfer for dashcam footage.  
Change to Power Only: In newer models, the center console USB-C ports are primarily for charging only. While they may still have the physical data lines present, Tesla disabled the data functionality in the USB hub.
